Joshua you are a amazing son and if we could of picked anybody it would of been you. No words can describe how we feel about you leaving us but 1 thing we can say and always will is that we love you and miss all the joys you brought into our lives the chubby cheeks the big brown eyes and who could forget that smile that could light up even the darkest of days. You were filled with so much happiness and joy that it was hard to be cross at you. Your happiness and love was so contagious that people couldn't help but to like and love you as we have learnt over these last 8 days because we didn't realise how many hearts you had touched. The next chapter in our lives is going to be very tough but we know you are shining down on us with that beaming smile. So you go do all the things you wanted to do but make sure you take care of us cos we need your strength to carry us on also make sure when we get to see you again you are there waiting to show us around. Now you go and spread your angel wings and be happy baby boy.

Lots of love and kisses Mum and your best mate Dad xxx

When a boy puts on a uniform, he becomes a part Of our Scouting Family and every Scouter’s heart.

It does not really matter if he’s in Our Troop or Yours, Scouting is one Family, from our borders to our shores.

When a Scout does something special, Scouting hearts all fill with Pride, And all those hearts are broken when they hear a Scout has died.

We never know just where or when, or whom God next will choose But it hurts us most when it’s someone we’re not prepared to lose.

It seems it’s human nature when we have to say “Goodbye” To bow our heads and ask the Lord, “Why him, why now, Lord, why?”

For those of us left here on Earth, it’s hard to understand, But it’s not for us to question the Wisdom of His plan.

Though we may never understand why this has come about, We’ll miss you and we want to say, “Farewell to you, young Scout”.

A few words, from Alex...

I’m not too sure what to say, Joshua.  I’m not too sure if I should post something to give me some sense of peace or to say a prayer, perhaps talk with your family or just keep it to myself. Some battles can never be won but you sure as hell put up a very good fight!

Joshua, I had the pleasure of knowing you for a very long-time, I saw you rise up from a Cub Scout to a Scout to a Young Leader (a very loud one at that). I am proud to have mentored you, wound you up (I’m very proud of that) and I am most certainly proud to have known you. You were never just a Cub, a Scout or another helper; you were my friend and I would like to thank you for that. Trust me there will be one or two campfire songs we will do in your name, pal. Where ever you are what ever you’re doing, just know you’re in our thoughts and prayers. I’m gonna miss you, man

I leave this song with you as you annoyed me to hell with it because you sang me it nearly every time you saw me, now it’s always going to remind me of you, you little get haha - See You Again

I wish all my best to the family and all his other friends x
This isn't goodbye, mate. I’ll see you soon x

What can I say? My cousin & my best friend, I've watched you grow from a child into a young man, and what a young man you were, you helped so many people, and you made anyone who knew you happy, without even doing much. I remember whenever I was down or upset, you would always make me happy again, these 15 years that I knew you will be the best I ever have, I hope you are up there with Grandad and Nan, and your teaching them to play on your x-box, and I most certainly hope you are looking down on us and you're proud, because I am of you, you touched a lot of lives and you will never be forgotten, we will miss you squashie joshie, i love you xx

Meghan

~

The thing that I am going to miss about you the most mate is not only one thing it's everything about you. You were such a caring and inspirational young man, who loved each and everyone of your family and friends with ferocity, I can only hope to be half the man that I know you would have grown up to be, let me tell you one of the things I am really going to miss about you is you asking me for a game of cod and me arguing saying have me a game of Fifa first (only because I knew I could beat you at that) then when we'd eventually get onto cod I wouldn't stand a chance because you were so good, I'm going to miss Longies in the cage me and you vs mega and kitty Kats but above all I'm going to miss my holiday partner I love you mate please keep you watch over us especially Aunty Paula, Uncle Anthony and Caitlyn love you bud xxx

Cousin Callum

~

My beautiful nephew what can I say you were beautiful to the core such a kind loving inspirational young man who would do anything for anybody even if you didn't know who they were you would still help them. I loved you from the moment you arrived and now I'm heart broken that you have left us far too young. Who am I going to terror when I go to your house now? Every day waiting, hoping it's a dream that you haven't gone and are just waiting to jump out at me and say did I get you Chelly belly but 7 days have gone and still you haven't jumped out on me, so I know its not a dream but I know that you are too busy now looking after us all as you have a great big job now in being our guardian angel and guiding us in the right path. Goodnight my blue nose, love you more than words can ever describe, rip my beautiful boy, till we meet at them pearly gates eartbroken aunty chelly belly xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Joking around, making people smile & sometimes a little loud! Outstanding & impeccable manners to make your parents proud. Scouting was in your heart & soul - that we all know. Handsome young man - it was a privilege to watch you grow. Unique & individual in your own special way. All the 12th will miss you each & every day.

Carla, Tom, Leah & Tamzin

~

Josh... well what can I say. I may not have been at the 12th often, but what I can say is that you were one person I remembered every time I went. I could say many things but I think I'll leave a saying that describes your attitude to life. 'Some people live more in 20 years than others do in 80. It's not the time that matters, it's the person' To me, that person is you Josh.

Matthew

Josh I never knew you that much but we did speak a few times gbnf. ~

I remember when I was younger, was it you or Meghan that lived in my road? I remember you loved the park and would say with such excitement "come to the park!" Who could refuse? Such a happy heartfelt request. There were two dogs? Whomever they belonged to you always beamed proudly at them... You'd make a daisy chain or two. And I'm sure than you had an earring? I don't know whether I should be happy that I will forever remember you as a happy child, or I should be guilt and sad that I didn't reach out to talk to you... Wherever you are, I hope you find peace.

A few words about Josh? Oh well I could probably fill up an entire book about him! I had the privilege to know you in Cubs and for you to become one of my close friends, this carried though Scouts and into Explorers. I'm not sure when but along the way you became my brother, if anything happened I'd come and run into Cubs and tell you. The majority of the time you would tell me you didn't care, but I kept telling you anyway. I remember the summer camp back in Scouts when I sat on top of the tyre swing and because you were scared I'd fall off, you held my feet whilst I read my book. I also remember when you got you're own Cubs trophy and you waited until the end of the night and came up with a huge smile on your face and you told me you had a trophy, even though I got a trophy before you did ha. Throughout all the years in scouting it was so obvious you liked me, you did everything possible just to flirt with me, like on the firework night at explorers and you had your arm around me for the whole hour and a half, or at the end of each week you'd give me a hug and only me. Josh always liked seeing others happy, he would always ask me how I was and that he was there if I ever needed him. Josh will always be in my thoughts and in my heart, someone so full of life can't just leave your life completely. Sending all my love to the family, he'd be so proud on how strong you all are at this moment

I was new to Explorers and Josh was talkative and friendly to me. We talked about superheros and my friend and I got along with him really well. He was such a nice guy. I wish I had known him longer because I think he would have been a great friend. Me and my family are thinking of you all and send you our love.

The death of Josh has been so emotional, and although not everyone had spoken to Josh, he was a member of our school community. In such sad times, like this, St Mary's comes together, and every single one of us has felt the loss of Josh! Standing outside school on the day of Josh's funeral showed how much Josh was valued - to everyone. It also showed our support for Josh's family at this dreadful time, who seem to be so strong. RIP Josh, you will remain a very special part of the St Mary's community, and are missed every single day!
